Valdés Peninsula (Comarca Península Valdés, Argentina)

“Talking about Valdés Peninsula is facing immense scenarios which give us all their beauty, becoming a special place in the world, with infinite potential for nature photography.” ARGENTINA WILD EXPEDITIONS.

The Valdés Peninsula is a coastal accident in the northeast of the province of Chubut, Argentine Patagonia. It is a protected natural area that is home to a great biodiversity, characteristic of the Patagonian region. Due to its geographical particularity and its biological importance, it is one of the nine World Heritage Sites declared by the UNESCO in Argentina.

Its waters make up the habitat of marine mammals such as the Southern right whales, orcas, dolphins, sea lions and elephant seals. Its rocky beaches have a large sample of marine fossils in different layers. This area is characterized by very high coastal cliffs, bays with extensive foreshores, sandy and pebble beaches and sandbanks (foreshores of sedimentary rock) which provide food for several seabird species and offer many photographic opportunities.

With their backs to the sea, there are dune fields created by the wind and the erosion of the coastal rock over millions of years. We can get into a steppe environment, where birds and terrestrial fauna are perfectly adapted to the arid conditions. In this area, there is not much water and become camouflaged with the environment or being fast are the best options for survival. There are populations of guanacos, foxes, pumas, skunks, armadillos, maras and other smaller rodents, as well as reptiles, birds of prey, lesser rheas and passerines, endemic to Patagonia and the Southern Cone.

The Valdés Peninsula is an area of 800 km in length, in which we will be able to travel around its coasts inside and outside protected areas and to navigate the Nuevo Gulf, taking advantage of the best daylight hours and with incredible wildlife sightings to take endless photographs.
