"As the second largest wetland in the world, the Iberá Wetlands arouse in us, nature lovers, the enthusiasm of traveling and discovering each of its corners...fascinating wildlife awaits there."
The Iberá Wetlands are a mixture of estuaries, stagnant lakes, lagoons, natural swamps, and watercourses in the central and north-central province of Corrientes, Argentina. This magnificent place is one of the most important freshwater reserves in South America and the second largest wetland in the world after the Pantanal in Brazil. It is of pluvial origin and has an area of almost 7.300 mi2.
Since 1982, part of the wetland has been included within a provincial protected area, the Iberá Provincial Reserve, which comprises about 5.000 mi2, the largest of such areas in Argentina. In 2018, the Iberá National Park was created.
